Qualifications:

Must be at least 21 years of age
Have at least two years of college course work in environmental science including but limited to Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, and Geology.
Strengths in teaching, leadership, speaking to groups, and community outreach are essential.
Must have enthusiasm for teaching about the environment.
Must possess good knowledge of school-aged activity programs.
Must be able to organize, direct and lead.
Must be able to work well with others, as well as independently.
Must possess superior written and oral communication skills.
Must have ability to work with minimum supervision to solve problems.
Perform work accurately on a timely basis.
Must have ability to perform required duties with initiative.
Must possess average or above average computer skills.
Must be customer service oriented and have a pleasant demeanor and cooperative attitude.
Applicant must be or become CPR/AED certified within the first 30 days of employment.
Must adhere to all Park District policies.
Applicant must be available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Duties:

Create and present environmental education and outdoor skill programs for adults and children including but not limited to wetland ecology, insects, food chains, mammals, birds, ecology, and nature restoration.
Creating and working summer day camps are a crucial part of this position.
Be a facilitator for the Hill Street Challenge Team Building Course.
Create and lead programs for scout troops earning badges.
Program and work Eco birthday parties.
Keep detailed records for classes and other events.
Keep all program manuals updated.
Work directly with the students by leading or supervising them in planned activities.
Attend all required staff meetings, trainings, and workshops.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Perform the job in compliance with District policies, procedures, and work rules.
Serve on the Environmental Committee.
