The Mt. Prospect Park District once again hosts the Summer Festival of Music featuring the Mt. Prospect Community Band beginning June 18, 2018, at the Veterans Memorial Band Shell at Lions Park in Mt. Prospect.  This free Monday evening summer pops-concert series has been a perennial favorite of residents and visitors alike.  Music Director, Monty Adams, is preparing the 45-piece wind ensemble for a slate of concerts as follows:

 

June 18th - A Night on Broadway

Special guest vocalist, Amy Keipert, and the band capture the thrills from some of the best-known Broadway musicals.

 

June 25thThe British are Coming!

Prepare yourself for the greatest hits from the U.K.

 

July 2ndAmerican Favorites

Spend part of your holiday with the band for this patriotic salute.

 

July 9thTurning Points

Music Director Adams and the band present music that was revolutionary for its time.

 

July 16thThe Wild West

Tighten up the saddle and join us for a ride out to the wild, wild, west.

 

July 23rdThose Marvelous Movies

Amy Keipert rejoins the band to celebrate Hollywood and those magnificent movies.

 

July 30thMarches from Around the World

Besides presenting some of the great marches in the world, John Bruce Yeh, Assistant Principal Clarinetist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, will be the guest soloist in a concert not to be missed.

 

Concerts are held each Monday evening at 7:30 p.m.  The Veterans Memorial Band Shell is located behind the Lions Recreation Center at 411 S. Maple St., Mt. Prospect.  Parking and admission is free.  Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a bite to eat and your favorite beverage.  In the event of inclement weather, the concert moves inside to the Lions Recreation Center Gym.
