Understanding that “if you build it, they will come” the District is preparing for the spring and summer seasons ahead. Whether a plan takes the form of an advance arrangement, detailed proposal or a simple decision; there are many types of plans underway at the Mt. Prospect Park District.

With spring prep in mind, Parks & Planning is out fulfilling a long list of tasks ensuring park readiness for baseball, soccer, games, bicycles, dog walking, picnics and more. 

The Recreation and Community Relations teams have plans in place for a full roster of programs/events including the annual Egg Hunt, Mt. Melas Adventure Run, Earth Day, Day Camp, Athletics, Dance Recitals, summer swimming and the Veterans Memorial Bandshell Monday/Thursday Concert Series. After a two year hiatus, the Mt. Prospect Community Band is busy planning their return!

Planning a milestone event for 2022? Friendship Park Conservatory hosts beautiful weddings and parties for all of life’s defining events. (Anniversaries, memorials, showers, birthdays). Act now and fill out a Rental Request Form at mppd.org as summer/fall dates are filling up fast. 

A good plan is often the result of a comprehensive project. Work is underway to create The 2022 Comprehensive Master Plan. The project creates a roadmap for a system-wide approach to evaluating parks and open space, recreational facilities and amenities in order to develop goals, policies and guidelines along with achievable strategies. The plan will be a resource for future development and redevelopment of District parks, open space, and recreation system providing guidance for the next 20 years.
