We are pleased to announce the awarding of a $600,000 OSLAD Grant to the Mt. Prospect Park District as part of Governor Pritzker’s continued commitment to helping communities acquire land and develop recreational opportunities. A total of $60 million in state grants were awarded for 118 local park projects throughout Illinois.
Established by the Illinois General Assembly in 1986, OSLAD is a cost-sharing program between state and local governments that has become one of the most popular grant programs in Illinois. Since its inception, OSLAD has awarded more than $530 million for park projects.
With over 83% of Illinoisans considering access to outdoor recreational opportunities “very important for them and their families,” the OSLAD awards allow Districts to bring their future visions to life.
The Mt. Prospect Park District will utilize the grant monies to begin a Phase 1 renovation of Lions Memorial Park. The Phase 1 work will include a new Playground, new shelter, fitness stations, picnic grove, pathways, tennis court restoration, ballfield drainage, benches and tables, planting and detention/pollinator garden. This project is being funded by the Mt. Prospect Park District, Mt. Prospect School District 57, and the OSLAD State Grant program.
The Lions Memorial Park Phase 1 renovation will begin late summer 2023.
