Mountaineers Preschool provides an ideal early learning environment. Each little learner is engaged in a playful, explorative and problem solving environment supported by both open play and structured activities. Individual and group lessons are implemented daily by a lead and one or more assistant teachers. Curriculum focuses on social/emotional development, large motor skills, language and fluency, scientific exploration and life skills.

2026-27 Preschool Parent Handbook
Must be 3 years old by February 1, 2027 Your child’s first school experience. Short class time helps transition your child to school while still maintaining the format of our older classes. Group time, free play, crafts, snack and large motor activities all while socializing with other children their age. The program is a theme based open ended curriculum each week. Weekly yoga and daily large motor activities including visits to the indoor soccer field in the building. Through active exploration students develop physically, socially and emotionally. Together with songs, storytelling, play, thematic units such as holidays, seasons and nursery rhymes help children to improve their language skills. Class introduces our program curriculum. Jolly Phonics to the preschoolers. Location RecPlex Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:15-11:45 AM Tuesday/Thursday, 9:15-11:45 AM Must be 4 years old by September 1, 2026 Preparing for Kindergarten, the future and the world! Pre-K activities encourage independence and self-help skills. Students learn letters and sounds using music and fine motor skills through the Jolly Phonics literacy program. Engaging activities like games, cooking and experiments develop an early interest in science and math. Location RecPlex Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM Tuesday/Thursday, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM Must be 4 years old by February 1, 2026 Children explore, play, sing and learn while preparing for a full day of school. Great option for D57 Westbrook Circle of Friends preschoolers, D59 ELC preschoolers, and AM RecPlex Pre-K students moving onto Kindergarten the following Fall. Jolly Phonics is utilized in the classroom while students enjoy thematic units. Location RecPlex Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 1:00-4:00 PM Tuesday/Thursday, 1:00-4:00 PM Monday-Friday, 1:00-4:00 PM An engaging social time that supports independence and while allowing children to connect and play with friends. Mountaineers 3’s Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten students bring a lunch and enjoy relaxed mealtime conversations, friendship-building, and supervised recess with peers. Lunch Bunch starts at 12 PM and ends at 1 PM. Eligible students (those moving on to Kindergarten in fall of 2026) can extend their day until 4:00 PM. Register for Lunch Bunch AND Afternoon Preschool Enrichment. Add On Options:
Registration
Register online or in person at a Park District facility. New students must provide a photo copy of their birth certificate. A credit card on file is required for auto monthly billing. Make sure to read the Parent Handbook on the website and complete the waiver prior to the first day of school. A list of important dates (start date, end date, days off) will be sent to registered participants over the summer. Class days, times, locations, and fees are subject to change.

- Classes are held mid-September 2026 through May 2027. Parents are expected to commit to a full school year.
