Considered the community’s premiere arts facility, the Art Studio at Melas Park offers creative classes, workshops and birthday parties. Adult classes are taught by professional artists. Popular birthday party packages for girls and boys preschool through teens. Offering a wide variety of summer, school-year, and school-break programs.
Seasonal Classes & Camps
Fall Frenzy (Ages 5-10) – Saturday, Sep. 26 | 9:30-11:30 AM
Celebrate the beauty of the changing season with a burst of creativity! Join us in the Studio for this “Fall Frenzy” workshop, where young artists will explore the vibrant colors and textures of autumn. This fun and engaging session features seasonal art and craft projects designed to inspire imagination while celebrating the harvest season.
Spooky Scary Studio (Ages 5-10) – Saturday, Oct. 10 | 9:30-11:30 AM
The Studio has been overrun by spooky, yet friendly, skeletons just in time for Halloween! Join us for a workshop filled with festive crafts and music to get into the spirit of the scariest night of the year. Come dressed up if you like, but be prepared for a little mess!
“Artsgiving” Crafty Cornucopia (Ages 5-10) – Saturday, Nov. 14 | 9:30-11:30 AM
As we get ready to gather and give thanks, join us at the Studio for a program of crafts aplenty! Create fun Thanksgiving-themed projects and amazing artwork you can show off at the dinner table. We can’t wait to see you there!
Schools Out Open Studio (Ages 5-16) – Monday, Sep. 21 – Monday, Oct 12 – Monday, Nov. 2
Be creative and beat the boredom on your day off from school! Choose projects from a huge assortment of wood, plaster and more! New selections and items are available. Ages 5 and up are welcome, but must be able to sit and work independently. Registration required for each attendee. Come in for 1.5 hours, arrive by 12:30 PM. Open Studio available 10:00 AM-2:00 PM.
Art Start Camp (Ages 7-14) – Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 23-Nov. 25 | 9:30 AM-12:00 PM
Our popular “all inclusive” art camp combines both art and crafts. If you’re looking for an overall “art experience” this is the camp for you. Painting, drawing, color, dimension, clay, and more; an “eclectic” combination of instruction, technique and individual exploration! Must work independently and be 7 by start of camp. All supplies included. Campers should come to camp with a snack and water bottle.
Kindergarten Art Adventure (Ages 5-6) Join us for a creative adventure designed specifically for Kindergartners. We’ll discover artistic outlets with art and crafts projects for all seasons. Painting, crafting, creating with clay, plaster art, watercolors, holiday decor and more! Emphasis is on providing a stress free complement to a kindergartner’s day. Stay with us all year, no projects repeat. Introduction to Art Academy (Grades 1-4) Do you enjoy art at school and wish the class would last longer? This class introduces you to the world of art including a variety of art and craft projects. Class focuses on skill development and technique. A perfect class to supplement school art curriculum and grow your confidence. Stay with us all year, no projects repeat. Intermediate Art Academy (Grades 5-8) Explore the various mediums available; pencil, chalk, watercolor, acrylic and more while learning about concepts, such as, line, shape, texture and color. Direction is provided towards completed projects. A true enhancement and skill development to supplement school art curriculum. Stay with us all year, no projects repeat. Advanced Art Academy Program (Grades 7-12) Offers older students who are serious minded about art a place to experiment and develop. Each session will focus on three different techniques. New and continuing students are challenged with fresh ideas, improved technique, and subject matter to advance their skills. Stay with us all year, no projects repeat. Homeschool Art Academy (Grades K-5) Unleash your child’s inner artist! Specifically designed for students in grades K-5 to explore their creativity through a variety of mediums. From painting and drawing to clay and mixed media, students learn fundamental techniques while developing their own unique artistic voice. Our mid-morning schedule provides a perfect creative break to supplement your homeschool curriculum. Watercolor for Adults (Ages 18+) Do you enjoy watercolor painting? Seeking artistic guidance, but don’t necessarily need intense lessons? Enjoy painting and socializing with other artists? Studio time is for you! Work on your own subject matter, at your own pace, with guidance when you need it. Recommended for beginners through experienced artists. Creative Pastels (Ages 18+) Learn fundamental techniques of pastel drawing using soft pastels. Emphasis on drawing, blending, layering and color theory applications. Use mark making to bring your artwork alive with vibrant colors and velvety textures. Beginners to advanced students are welcome. Oil or Acrylic Painting Studio Time (Ages 18+) Like to oil paint, but don’t have the room? Seeking artistic guidance, but don’t necessarily need intense lessons? Enjoy painting and socializing with other artists? Studio time is for you! Work on your own subject matter, at your own pace, with guidance when you need it. Recommended for beginners through experienced artists. Make this year’s birthday colorful, creative and completely stress-free! At the Art Studio, parties are led by experienced studio staff who will lead and assist throughout the entirety of the party. Attention Girl Scout, Boy Scout & Indian Princess Programs!
Try something “creatively” different and plan your next outing with us! Weeknights and some weekends are available with themed projects for all ages. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of all levels can earn various artistic merit badges through The Art Studio as well as celebrate end of year or holiday parties.
