Rosemary S. Argus Friendship Park & Friendship Park Conservatory Redevelopment Phase 2
Project Timeline: January – Late Summer 2024
The Park District submitted for a Tourism Attractions & Festivals Grant with the Illinois Commerce & Economic Opportunity for improvements at the Friendship Park Conservatory. The Park District was awarded $340,000 in State of Illinois Grant funding for both the interior and exterior renovations.
Interior includes the following associated work (completed):
- Remodeling the banquet room including flooring, lighting, painting and updated window treatments
- Bathroom expansion with a complete renovation
Exterior includes the following associated work (in progress):
- New outdoor pavilion with concrete pad and walkways
- Garden patio with hardscape, seating and raised planters
- Pick up/drop off lane modifications to the existing west parking lot
- Porta potty pad, storage and screening
- Make up volume to the existing basin and the addition of a rain-garden for stormwater.
- Landscaping improvements
- Parking lot and roadway crack filling, sealcoating and striping

Owen Park is receiving updated equipment in 2024.
Rosemary S. Argus Friendship Park Redevelopment Phase 1
Project timeline: Completed
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) through their Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grant, has awarded the Mt. Prospect Park District’s Rosemary S. Argus Friendship Park a $400,000 matching funds grant.
The proposed project would combine new park amenities and improvements including:
- Refurbished pedestrian pathways and the looping of the path system
- Resurfacing the main parking lot
- Fitness station
- Playground shelter
- Ballfield improvements
- Refurbish the existing tennis courts with 4 new pickleball courts (including lighting)
- Site furnishings and landscaping throughout the park
Lions Memorial Park Redevelopment Phase 1
Project Timeline: Spring-Late Summer 2024
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) through their Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grant, has awarded the Mt. Prospect Park District’s Lions Park a $600,000 matching funds grant.
The proposed project would combine new park amenities and improvements including:
- Playground with shelter
- Game court
- Refurbished tennis courts
- Pathway system
- Ballfield improvements
- Fitness station
- Picnic grove
- Prairie detention
- Site furnishings and landscaping throughout the park

Commonwealth Edison Trail Replacement

The ComEd corridor through South Mount Prospect (Algonquin to Linneman Road) is scheduled to be replaced in Spring 2024.
