Countryside Park Playground Renovations
Project Timeline: Fall 2025-Spring 2026
Residents and neighbors were invited to the Countryside Park Playground Open House Meeting on Tuesday, July 1. Attendees were able to weigh in on playground equipment options and colors…the results are in!
The Climber design option has been chosen with color option C (pictured below).
The park renovation begins this Fall.
Proposed Improvements include:
- New playground equipment for both 2-5 and 5-12 age groups
- A new designated 2-5 age group play area
- A new park shelter with 2 picnic tables (1 ADA and 1 standard)
- New benches along pathway and playground perimeter
- Improvements to the existing walkway area around the playground including removal of brick pavers
- Replacement and widening of the existing pathway around the park to 8′ wide
- Updating the basketball backboard, hoop and net and repaving the existing court
- Landscaping improvements around the park including tree trimming, tree removal and new plantings
- A black vinyl chain link fence along Golf Road and neighboring property
- Replacement of the park entrance sign
- Adding more trash cans around the new path perimeter
Project Construction Timeline:
- Fall/Winter 2025: Excavating the new 2-5 age group playground area, removal and widening of pathways around the park and basketball court
- Spring 2026: Playground equipment and shelter installed, any remaining pathway concrete and asphalt work, final grading/seeding and plantings
Project Timeline: Completed Project Timeline: Completed The Park District submitted for a Tourism Attractions & Festivals Grant with the Illinois Commerce & Economic Opportunity for improvements at the Friendship Park Conservatory. The Park District was awarded $340,000 in State of Illinois Grant funding for both the interior and exterior renovations. Interior includes the following associated work (completed): -Remodeling the banquet room including flooring, lighting, painting and updated window treatments Exterior includes the following associated work (in progress): -New outdoor pavilion with concrete pad and walkways Project Timeline: Completed Owen Park received updated equipment in 2024.
Project timeline: Completed The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) through their Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grant, has awarded the Mt. Prospect Park District’s Rosemary S. Argus Friendship Park a $400,000 matching funds grant. The proposed project would combine new park amenities and improvements including: -Refurbished pedestrian pathways and the looping of the path system Project Timeline: Completed The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) through their Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Grant, has awarded the Mt. Prospect Park District’s Lions Park a $600,000 matching funds grant.

Rosemary S. Argus Friendship Park & Friendship Park Conservatory Redevelopment Phase 2
-Bathroom expansion with a complete renovation
-Garden patio with hardscape, seating and raised planters
-Pick up/drop off lane modifications to the existing west parking lot
-Porta potty pad, storage and screening
-Make up volume to the existing basin and the addition of a rain-garden for stormwater.
-Landscaping improvements
-Parking lot and roadway crack filling, sealcoating and striping
