My Mini and Me

My Mini and Me Series (Ages 2-6 with Adult)

My Mini and Me classes are geared towards quality time with your favorite little person(s) making nature based crafts and enjoying all the season has to offer. Each session brings new ideas and adventures. Sign up each child individually for one or multiple sessions. Adults are included at no charge!

New! Fall Pumpkin Planter Workshop (Ages 5-11)

Fall in love with autumn and use nature as a planter-a-pumpkin! Add beautiful color to your doorstep, patio, or balcony with a pumpkin as a fall planter. Our designer, Jill, will help you expertly cut, arrange and understand the care needed for your arrangement. We provide all the supplies, flowers, pumpkin, and needed dirt. Please bring your gardening gloves and a hand digging tool and if you have a good cutting tool for carving pumpkins, please carefully bring that! Register by October 4 to ensure materials.

Thanksgiving Break Camp (Ages 5-11)

Join us during your Thanksgiving Break for fun filled days spent creating nature based crafts, exploring the outdoors, and playing games with our Instructors. Join for one session or multiple as your schedule allows. Campers should be prepared for both indoor and outdoor activities and bring a water bottle and snack.

Fall Planter (Ages 16-Adult)

Join your favorite Greenhouse staff, Kaitlyn and Natalie, for another beautiful homegrown seasonal planter class! Add some charm to your porch or patio this Autumn with a planter designed to thrive in our zone’s Fall temperatures. Bring your gloves, your ideas and some friends! We will supply the plants, planters, soil and tools.

Start your Butterfly Garden (Ages 16-Adult)

Make your yard a hotspot for butterflies, hummingbirds and bees! Planting a butterfly garden in Fall is a fantastic method for garnering success the following growing season. Kaitlyn and Natalie from the Park District’s own Greenhouse will talk about keystone species and choosing ideal perennials, as well as adding supplemental herbs and annuals that benefit our native pollinators. Participants will take home a selection of perennials to get them started.

Nature Inspired Collage (Ages 18+)

Accomplish a combination of intuitive and expressive artmaking through nature with intentional drawing of subject matter. Explore composition, collage, and observational drawing to create a beautiful and unique seasonal collage on stretched canvas that captures the beauty seen in nature. Supplies are included! Please join us to create this beautiful collage in the lovely Conservatory setting, as you converse with fellow nature and art lovers!

Meet Designer Jill Tumberger

The Friendship Park Conservatory welcomes Jill Tumberger, a long-time Mount Prospect resident who comes to us from Lurvey Home and Garden in Des Plaines. Jill has extensive experience in container designs that will add texture, color and interest to your home, garden and patio.
